The university library lies on the side of beautiful Houguan Lake at the northern end of the campus. With an area of 22,502.8 square meters, the library has seven reading rooms and 1,856 places for readers to study. The library uses full open-shelves loan system.

The library holds a total collection of 1.1 million books, including 36,000 electronic books, 1,005 Chinese and Foreign journals and eight Chinese network databases. Meanwhile, the library shares resources with the Wuhan Library and Hubei Library.

As a member of the China Academic Library & Information System (CALIS), the library has adopted ILAS II, an integrated library system. On the basis of interconnection with the campus network, the library is now able to provide services such as online information publishing, document acquisitions, classification, circulation, search, informational counseling, remote access, document delivery, online inter-library loan and user training.

As a result, the library is open 91 hours per week and provides online information services for staff and students at any time.
